My Future

Well this semester would have to be one the most life changing experiences I've had ever. I am getting married in less than a week to a wonderful man, I am going to be having a child and having to deal with the military lifestyle...he is leaving very soon and I do not know what to think. I am blessed though in many ways. I have a supporting family, his and mine, loving friends willing to do what ever it takes to make me and my family okay, and an amazing fiance willing and wanting to do whatever he can to make me happy and love me for me. School is probably one of the biggest issues I am having to deal with right now. I wish that these events would be taken place after I graduate college, but the Lord has other plans and can never give someone too much they cannot handle. Ya'll just pray for me and my family...

Cover Letters??!!?!?

The topic this week is interesting. Cover letters are something that I never thought about or understood to be of any importance. I am an education major, so I am not sure if this is necessary for my job, but the articles you assigned us to read made me think otherwise. The first article made the rest of the articles seem pointless and that the way people normally view their cover letter is completely wrong. I would think the cover letter would be used to give more insight into the person's life, what they can bring to the table at that company, and how useful they could be...but the article stated that people do not pay attention to the cover letter until after reading their resume, which better be an excellent one to get them to focus on their cover letter. I feel that, as an education major, a cover letter will be helpful for me to get a job because my resume my not be amazing, but I have alot of time and effort I can but into my classroom and the community.

Mock Interviews

How to answer the toughest questions is one of the greatest articles!! I love how they handle certain questions, the way you should respond, and the amount of time needed to respond to each question. I absolutely love the random questions about what tree and what car you would be...I would have to pause and think a minute too because I would panic. I feel that this article is one of the best articles when dealing with issues in a mock interview. The second article How to Handle illegal questions is a wonderful topic. Because I am going through so much and having to face these obsticles head on I know that people will be interviewing me and asking these questions. I don't feel that answering these questions will be benefitial for anyone, but I know if I was in the situation I would definately not answer and ask them to continue with the interview. This website is wonderful and full of information on interviews, can not wait for my future job!!!

Persuasive Letters

After reading the letter from Martin Luther King, I felt the argument and the stance he was taking with racial issues. There was no doubt he wanted the Clergymen to understand what his purpose was for being in Birmingham and how that was purpose was justified. While looking for articles that would persuade me to attend their company or school district, I found an article through google about "Hiring Teachers in New York's Public Schools: Can the Principle Make a Difference?" I know that I will not be teaching in New York, but this concept can have an influence on a teacher's decision on whether the principle is what they are wanting or needing to better their education career. If you do not have the support of the principle or the district, you may have a difficult time expressing your education goals or dreams for your students. This article describes the process taken for hiring, the data recieved for teachers being hired and their experiences with new and old principles. I know that one of the main things needed for district is the ability to provide materials and field trips for my students and be able to provide every opportunity for them.
